14 oktober 2010 – De Franse Banque Nationale Alzheimer (BNA) in Nice, heeft gekozen voor het databasebeheersysteem Caché van InterSystems om de database van BNA op te zetten en gaat ook zijn interfaces en mogelijkheden voor statistieken gebruiken. De BNA werd door het Franse Ministerie van Gezondheid opgericht binnen het kader van het nationale Alzheimer-plan, een project dat alle gegevens wil verzamelen en centraliseren die over de ziekte bestaan. Voor de ontwikkeling van het project is gekozen voor het Zen framework van InterSystems. De ontwikkeling werd uitgevoerd door Ellipse, een historische partner van InterSystems, in samenwerking met het Universitair Ziekenhuis van Nice.
400 gegevensbronnen
Het project van de Banque Nationale Alzheimer is een initiatief van de ‘Direction de l'Hospitalisation et de l'Organisation des Soins (DHOS)’ en centraliseert gegevens afkomstig van de Consultations Mémoire (CM), de Centres Mémoire de Ressources et Recherche (CMRR) en van specialisten. Alles samen zijn er op nationaal niveau 400 deelnemers aan het project.
Het project werd CIMA gedoopt, voor Corpus d'Information Minimum Alzheimer. Vanaf verschillende bronnen worden gegevens verzameld die moeten verwerkt worden in statistisch en epidemiologisch onderzoek. Het was bijzonder belangrijk om voor de inzameling van de gegevens een interface te ontwikkelen die tegelijk eenvoudig en robuust is. Het was een fundamentele eis voor het project dat iedere gegevensbron makkelijk kon conformeren aan de vereisten van de interface.
Aangepaste oplossingen voor snelle ontwikkeling
Hoewel de ontwikkeling van het project van de Banque Nationale Alzheimer complex was, werd het op minder dan vijf maanden tijd afgewerkt. Het project werd uitgevoerd in nauwe samenwerking met het Departement van Openbare Gezondheidszorg, het Universitair Ziekenhuis van Nice en diensten van de regio Alpes-Maritimes.
Om de ontwikkeling zo snel te laten verlopen, kon Ellipse rekenen op de krachtige prestaties en de objectgeoriënteerde aanpak van het Caché database management systeem van InterSystems. Dit liet toe een reeks componenten te ontwikkelen rond een woordenboek dat de diverse variabelen van het corpus identificeerde. Dit biedt ook de garantie dat toekomstige evoluties relatief goedkoop kunnen uitgewerkt worden.
Parallel werd ook een BNA internet portaalsite ontwikkeld op basis van kZen, een eigen ontwikkeling van Ellipse op basis van het Zen framework van InterSystems. Dit systeem volgt de Web 2.0 specificaties en garandeert zo de asynchrone uitvoering van belangrijke bewerkingen op de server.
Complexe processen, geïntegreerde interface
Voor de gebruikers gebeurt het beheer van de integratie van de CIMA’s automatisch en geheel transparant. De patiëntengegevens worden door de betrokken medische structuren afzonderlijk of gegroepeerd doorgestuurd naar het BNA-systeem. Daar worden ze in twee stappen anoniem gemaakt om een hoog niveau aan confidentialiteit te garanderen.
De gegevens die op die manier verzameld worden, kunnen vervolgens verwerkt worden voor statistische doeleinden: rapporten, analyses en grafieken op nationaal, regionaal, departementaal niveau of zelfs per afzonderlijke vestiging. Ook de periodiciteit kan ingesteld worden: maandelijks, per kwartaal, per jaar… De gegevens kunnen eveneens onderzocht worden volgens diverse criteria die nuttig zijn voor specifieke statistieken.
De BNA werd in oktober 2009 in gebruik genomen en heeft sindsdien veel steun gekregen van de diverse leveranciers van gegevens. Na zes maanden hadden al 180 structuren de gewoonte aangenomen om op regelmatige basis gegevens door te sturen over 48.000 patiënten. Momenteel zijn al 70.000 dossiers opgenomen in de BNA.

Just when we thought the most basic social engineering worms were a thing of the past, and that both users and service providers were beyond significant problems with such pests, a good old-fashioned mail massmailer gave us reason to pause in just a few days of early September. I am, of course, talking about the recent occurrence of the variants of so called “Here you have” virus, known as Win32/Visal to ESET.
1. INF/Autorun

This detection label is used to describe a variety of malware using the file autorun.inf as a way of compromising a PC. This file contains information on programs meant to run automatically when removable media (often USB flash drives and similar devices) are accessed by a Windows PC user. ESET security software heuristically identifies malware that installs or modifies autorun.inf files as INF/Autorun unless it is identified as a member of a specific malware family.
Removable devices are useful and very popular: of course, malware authors are well aware of this, as INF/Autorun’s frequent return to the number one spot clearly indicates. Here’s why it’s a problem. The default Autorun setting in Windows will automatically run a program listed in the autorun.inf file when you access many kinds of removable media. There are many types of malware that copy themselves to removable storage devices: while this isn’t always the program’s primary distribution mechanism, malware authors are always ready to build in a little extra “value” by including an additional infection technique. The Win32/Conficker threat is a network worm originally propagated by exploiting a recent vulnerability in the Windows operating system. This vulnerability is present in the RPC sub-system and can be remotely exploited by an attacker without valid user credentials. Depending on the variant, it may also spread via unsecured shared folders and by removable media, making use of the Autorun facility enabled at present by default in Windows (though not in Windows 7).
Win32/Conficker loads a DLL through the svchost process. This threat contacts web servers with pre-computed domain names to download additional malicious components. While ESET has effective detection for Conficker, it’s important for end users to ensure that their systems are updated with the Microsoft patch, which has been available since the third quarter of 2008, so as to avoid other threats using the same vulnerability. This is a family of Trojans used in phishing attacks aimed specifically at game-players: this type of Trojan comes with keylogging and (sometimes) rootkit capabilities which gather information relating to online games and credentials for participating. Characteristically, the information is sent to a remote intruder’s PC. These Trojans are still found in very high volumes, and game players need to remain alert. While there have always been unpleasant people who will steal another gamer’s credentials just for the heck of it, trading in virtual cash, treasure, avatars and so on is now a major source of illegal income for cybercriminals. It’s also important that participants in MMORPGs (Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Games) like Lineage and World of Warcraft, as well as “metaverses” like Second Life, continue to be aware of the range of other threats like griefing ranged against them. ESET lanceert Mobile Security voor smartphones met Symbian en Windows Mobile
Brussel, 2 september 2010 – ESET, de leider in proactieve bescherming tegen bedreigingen, kondigt de lancering aan van ESET Mobile Security. Deze software is geschreven voor smartphones en Pocket-PC’s die gebruikmaken van de besturingssystemen Windows Mobile en Symbian. Het nieuwe product zorgt voor ongekende beveiliging van data tegen nieuwe bedreigingen.
Volgens het onderzoeksbureau Gartner werden in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar wereldwijd 27 miljoen smartphones verkocht. Meer dan de helft daarvan gebruiken Symbian of Windows Mobile als besturingssysteem.
“Na uitgebreide openbare testen zijn we er zeker van dat we een prima product gebouwd hebben voor gebruikers van Symbian en Windows Mobile,” zegt Michal Vidoman, Mobile Security specialist in het ESET hoofdkwartier in Bratislava (Slovakije). “Smartphones worden net als PC’s bedreigd. Er zijn veel meldingen van kwaadwillende toepassingen die ‘social engineering’ gebruiken om toegang te krijgen tot uw telefoon. Indien de infiltratie succes kent, kunnen deze toepassingen tekstberichten versturen of gespreken voeren met betaalnummers. Er zijn ook al berichten over spionagetoepassingen. ESET Mobile Security beveiligt zowel uw geld als uw privacy.”

GM EUROPE PROLONGE SON PARTENARIAT AVEC CHEP
Cologne, le 6 septembre 2010 – CHEP, le leader mondial en services de location de palettes et de conteneurs, annonce que GM Europe vient à nouveau de le choisir comme fournisseur de services de pooling. Les deux entreprises se sont engagées à collaborer jusqu’en juillet 2016.
En 1993, GM Europe était le premier OEM (fabricant d’équipement d’origine) européen à travailler avec CHEP Automotive et depuis lors, le fabricant automobile a toujours utilisé les services de ce département de CHEP..
